You can also use hot fomentation if you suspect any infections or abscesses then apply a poultice that will be helpful in reducing the swelling of the limb. The poultice works best after exercises, and it is usually very effective in reducing infections and abscess from the swollen foot.

The above procedures can be used in combination with pain-relieving drugs that are used to quickly and actively reduce swelling, inflammation, and cramping. Analgesics are especially very good for the horses especially if it is going through excruciating agony. Therefore, one is advised to use the drug if the home remedy does not work quickly.

If you notice that the steed is suffering from mild cramping, you are advised to give it aspirin to relieve it from the cramping. Aspirin is also effective in easing most forms of discomfort and swellings thus this is diversely used. On the off chance that the steed has a fever too, be sure to give it medication that will lower the fever and reduce the agony.

The drugs are usually combined with steroids, and they can heal the plug within a few days depending on the intensity of the malady. Cyclooxygenases as supplements are also highly recommended as they usually reduce swelling or inflammation. Caution should, however, be taken because the drugs may be having adverse side effects that may be harmful to the pony if they are used for long.
